26/27 R1 - Biosecurity Projects

The Community Grants Program provides financial assistance to eligible community organisations to deliver projects which:

• Respond to community need
• Align with Council’s Corporate Plan 2022- 2027 and other relevant Council strategies and plans
• Enhance the social, environmental and/or cultural wellbeing of the Gympie region.

Administration of Council's grants is in accordance with Council’s Community Grants Policy.

Before completing this application: 

1. Applicants are encouraged to speak with an officer from Council's Biosecurity Team by calling 1300 307 800. Grant information sessions can be found by visiting Help and Resources | Gympie Regional Council 

2. Read the Community Grants - Biosecurity Projects Guidelines 2026/2027

4. Applications will only be accepted by submission through the Smarty Grants portal. 

5. Parts of this application will require supporting documentation. Please ensure that documentation is clear and legible. 

6. Successful applicants will be required to complete an online acquittal within 4 weeks of their project completion. Applicant is required to retain and submit receipts for all grant expenditure as part of the acquittal.

Purpose:

To support land holders to improve biosecurity outcomes in the Gympie region.

Amount & co- contributions:

Maximum grant amount: $2,500 per syndicate.

No applicant co-contribution required (noting that landholders/community group are required to undertake or arrange all works associated with the project).

Priorities:

1. Pest animal control program with ongoing pest management plan that
   covers a minimum of 12 months.
2. Pest plant control program with ongoing pest management plan that
   covers a minimum of 12 months.
3. Biocontrol release and monitoring project with ongoing pest
   management plan that covers a minimum of 12 months.

Programs are ineligible if conducted outside the Gympie Regional Council area.

Applicants are required to provide a copy of either a:

• Property Pest Management Plan (PPMP) or
• Property Weed Management Plan (PWMP)

as supporting material for their application.
